FAQ - What to expect
I will have a free, 30 minute telephone conversation with you to discuss your specific needs, what you want to achieve and to set clear goals. We will make a plan together and agree on how many sessions are necessary. We can prioritise the main areas of concern before a session. I can help identify the areas of your home that probably cause you the most frustration. I will be practical and will consider the way you like to live.
When I arrive, you can give me a tour of your home if you wish, or just show me what you want me to see. A tour allows me to see your home as a whole and helps me to decide how I can best help you. Please understand that I will have seen it all before and that my main aim is to help you get organised, not to judge you.
Most decluttering sessions are achieved by working together. I’m friendly and always have lots to talk about with my clients, so despite the fact that we are working away, the time passes quickly. Once the decluttering begins, most clients find that they are motivated to let go of some of their possessions more easily than they first thought. As we work together, we regularly put recyclable items in the bin and unwanted items are removed. As progress is being made I can see my client’s mood lift, which is very rewarding.
Once we’ve removed the clutter, I will look at the best way to reorganise your space by suggesting ways to rearrange furniture and furnishings to make your space more inviting and pleasing for you to live in. I am pretty strong and can manage moving some furniture by myself but will need your help for larger items, particularly if furniture needs to be taken up and down the stairs.
Together we will make decisions on what storage is needed. Often customers find that they do not need any further storage but just need to use the storage they have differently. I have a passion for interior design and can suggest storage solutions that are either new or I will keep an eye out on selling sites for appropriate second hand furniture.
People choose to have a declutterer for many reasons. Some people simply don’t have time to declutter and organise their homes due to work and family commitments and just need someone to do it for them while they’re at work or while they’re working from home and want to dip in and out of helping. Many people choose to declutter on their day off or take a day’s holiday and just want help to get the job done quickly and to feel more motivated.
There are many benefits of working together such as: getting the job done quicker and achieving a larger ‘to-do’ list, it’s more enjoyable tackling clutter with someone else who will motivate you to keep going and if you find organising your ‘stuff’ a challenge, I can help you with strategies so that you can learn how to organise your home and then how to stay on top of your clutter.
It is not always necessary to be present when decluttering as some jobs are less personal such as, clearing and reorganising the kitchen or a child’s bedroom or playroom. Wardrobes are personal and definitely require us to work as a team.
When decluttering the less personal areas of your home by myself, I Facetime clients whilst they are at work when decisions of what to keep or remove need making. I use common sense and help you make decisions about your belongings but never persuade you to get rid of things if you are not sure.
At the end of each session, I look at what’s been achieved and give you strategies to continue after I’ve left. You may only need one session or you may need many. I have seen many client’s multiple times due to decluttering and reorganising the whole house.
My goal is to provide uncomplicated, practical, organised systems for you, so the clutter doesn’t return.
I am passionate about interior design and will source suitable storage solutions, furniture and suggest colour schemes and furnishings for my clients. This service is priced per job.
